Information notice – Connected Safety
In order for Polestar Performance AB (“Polestar”, “we”, “us”) to be able to provide you with all the functionality related to Connected Safety, we need to process certain data.
1. Controller
Polestar Performance AB, a Swedish legal entity with company registration number 556653-3096 with address Assar Gabrielssons Väg 9, SE-405 31, Gothenburg, Sweden, hereinafter referred to as “Polestar”, “we”, “us”, will as controller process your personal data as further described below.
2. Processing of personal data
The purpose of the processing of personal data is for Polestar to be able to provide you with the Connected Safety service which includes low road friction condition (slippery road) alert and hazard light alert information. This information is being shared between your own vehicle and other vehicles over the internet, and will also be used by Polestar to improve active safety features like Pilot Assist, road sign information, etc.
The purpose of processing of personal data is also to monitor the performance of Connected Safety.
3. Data categories
3.1 Vehicle position
This is used to inform other vehicles about where an alert has occurred. It is also needed for you to be able to receive alerts.
3.2 Time
A time stamp is provided with the alert.
3.3 Alert type
Calculated road friction or manually added hazard light will be matched with the vehicle position. More alert types are planned in the near future.
3.4 Vehicle Identity Number (VIN)
If your vehicle is in the same road area as the alert occurs, we use the VIN to identify your car and by that find out your vehicle position. This way we can send an alert to your car if it is relevant.
4. Data sharing
Alert type and vehicle position are shared over the internet with vehicles that are approaching the alert location. The personal data will never be transferred outside EU/EEA.
5. Legal ground
Polestar will process the personal data listed above to be able to provide you with the service Connected Safety. The legal ground for this processing is that it is necessary for the performance of the contract for Connected Safety between you and us. Polestar will also process the personal data listed to improve active safety features like Pilot Assist, road sign information, etc. and to continuously monitor the performance of Connected Safety over time. The legal ground for this processing is that it is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by us.
6. Storing and deleting data
All personal data related to this service will be deleted at the maximum of one week from when it has been collected.
