Information Notice – Purchasing of Services

In order for Polestar to be able to provide you with all the functionality related to Purchasing of Services, we need to process certain data.


Polestar Performance AB, a Swedish legal entity with company registration number 556653-3096 with address Assar Gabrielssons Väg 9 405 31 Göteborg, Sweden, and Polestar Automotive Ireland Limited, an Irish legal entity with company registration number 703485 with address Volvo Ireland Limited, 5 Riverwalk, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24, Ireland, hereinafter referred to as “Polestar”, “we” and “our”, are joint controllers who will process your personal data as described below. The two companies jointly determine which of them will provide you with information, based on the information you provide and which company you state.

Purpose and legal basis for processing

You are invited to purchase Services online from us. “Service” means a service purchased from Polestar which can be ordered through the use of a Polestar ID, and which includes but is not limited to connected services (such as Polestar Connect subscriptions), apps and other software.

We process the personal data that you provide in connection with your purchase of Services, to be able to provide you with the purchase.

The purpose of our processing is to administer and monitor your purchase (from purchase to delivery) including any necessary contacts with authorities for official reporting, administration of your request for related Services, follow up on the delivery, and to communicate updates related to the Services that you have purchased. The legal basis for our processing of your personal data is that this processing is necessary for the performance of our contract with you.

We will anonymize the personal data you provide and process it for the purposes of statistics, research and development. The legal basis is that this processing is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interest.

Data categories

We may collect data such as your contact details, your credit card numbers and if you are eligible for VAT exemption or not.

We may also collect your vehicle's VIN-number and/or your Polestar ID to verify that you can purchase said Service.

Disclosure / Recipients of your personal data / Transfer

The data categories listed above are transferred to Polestar and our affiliates and business partners.

VAT numbers are reported to the authorities according to local regulations.

In relation to our business partners located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), we will transfer your personal data with the basis of the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission.

Termination of data collection

To terminate the collection of vehicle-recorded data described above, you as the owner of the vehicle need to contact our Customer Service, either by phone, email or via the form as described in the end. To find the contact information relevant to your market, please visit the link

Retention time

We will retain your personal data up to 90 days after you have stopped using the Service you have purchased.

We will archive the data relating to the purchase up to 10 years in order to comply to Accounting and Financial Reporting Legislation.

As an individual, you are entitled certain rights according to the General Data Protection Regulation. The rights that apply to this processing of vehicle data is:

Right of Access

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data that we store about you.

Right to rectification

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.

Right to erasure

You also have the right to have your personal data deleted if your data has been processed in an unlawful way.

Right to object to processing / restrict processing

In addition you have the right to object and stop our collection of the vehicle data and have the processing restricted in certain circumstances.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

If you believe that we are processing your personal data in violation of privacy laws and regulations you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority. The supervisory authority in Sweden is Datainspektionen with address:
